Low cost, mass produced gyroscopic sensors and the various micromachining technologies are opening up a range of new applications. Devices from Analog Devices, STMicroelectronics, and Bosch Sensortec demonstrate the different technologies available and the ways to use micro-machined gyroscopes in various applications.
The AST4100 is a compact, low cost pressure transducer with a cable electrical connection. Mainly used in benign environments, the AST4100 is an economical option for pressure sensing. It is available in sensor materials including 17-4 PH and 316L stainless steel as well as nickel alloys and Titanium for more corrosive liquids and gases.
The Vibrating Beam Gyroscope (Figure 1), an alternative to MEMS gyroscope, is a complete inertial rate sensor that includes low cost analog active disturbance rejection controller and digital user interface. The output of the sensor is a DC voltage proportional to the measured rotation rate about the axis normal to the top surface of the beam.
